Dashe Cellars was set up in 1996, the same year when Michael and Anne met and got married. Since then, they have been making their Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel; to celebrate the 20th anniversary of both special occasions, they decided to make a Dry Creek Reserve instead. This is a barrel selection of the top 20% of wines as they were showing shortly before bottling. This also coincided with the last vintage of drought that hit California for 5 successive vintages, giving us an intense but healthy fruit character to revel in. 13 months in oak, of which 20% was new.

The dynamic couple, Michael & Anne Dashe, set up their urban warehouse in 1996. Michael is a Californian born and bred who came to wine by way of many internships with the likes of Cloudy Bay, Lafite Rothschild and Ridge. Anne was born in Brittany and studied at the University of Bordeaux before taking on an internship in St-Emilion. Although their inspiration is bucolic rolling hills, they wanted to bring their wines and tasting experiences closer to consumers. Like many of our US winemakers, they work closely with vineyard owners and growers in Sonoma and Mendocino to source their grapes, although in the Dashe's case it is often Michael who makes harvesting decisions. They seek out partners whose sites are located on steep slopes planted with older vines. They seek to control yields and reduce use of chemicals in the vineyard.
