2017 Castell d'Age Fragments Tempranillo

  • $45.00

Region: Spain, Penedès
Viticulture: Biodynamic
Grape Variety: Tempranillo

Dry medium-bodied red; fruity and smoky | Time to call in the asador!

The high quality of the Tempranillo from Castell d’Age took us by surprise when we first tasted it, considering that they are Cava specialists. The oak is seamlessly integrated with the ripe plum and cherry core, and exactly the right amount of tannin to provide texture across the palate. It is also versatile at the table, or go all-in with some hearty beef tongue tacos.

The Catalonian Junyent family first planted vines in the 20th century. But it was only when the estate passed into the hands of the enterprising womenfolk that they started making wines. It is now the third generation of women who are working the land according to biodynamic practices. The vines are spread over 6 vineyards, which allows them to find optimum altitudes and soils for each grape variety.
