Bubbles Beyond Champagne - A Masterclass by SG's only MW!

Posted by Kerrie Wee on

Singapore's only Master of Wine (MW) will be conducting a tutored tasting of 8 world class sparklers from 4 different countries on the 13th August, Sunday, from 4-5pm! Tickets can be bought here.
As part of Epicurean Market's Connoisseur Series, Analogue Wine Merchant is proud to host 'Bubbles Beyond Champagne: An Exploration of World Class Sparkling Wines' with MW Tan Ying Hsien. We adore our grower Champagnes, but we wanted to showcase the different styles that our quality sparklers have as they deserve the same amount of love!
The tasting will be conducted in 4 pairs.
We start off with two Proseccos, as we explore the differences in bottling from the top and the bottom of the tank. The former is Spagnol's flagship wine, the 2016 Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG Prosecco Superiore Brut «Col del Sas», and the latter being the 2015 Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG Prosecco Vino Frizzante «il Fondo».
We move on to our glorious Vouvrays from François Pinon, where we discover how dosage and additional years of ageing affects the taste of the Chenin Blancs. Wines featured will be the 2014 François Pinon Vouvray Brut and the 2011 François Pinon Vouvray Brut Non-Dosé.
We can't miss out on our Cavas from Castell d'Age, an estate run by 3 generations of superwomen. Both cavas, the NV Castell d'Age Cava Brut Nature Reserva «Anne-Marie» and the NV Castell d'Age Cava Xarel.lo Reserva «1988» are made methode traditionelle, so we compare the difference in the grape varieties. The Anne-Marie is made from a blend of Macabeo, Xarel.lo, Parellada, whereas the 1988 is 100% Xarel.lo.
We have something up our sleeves for the last pairing, as it would be conducted blind. Come down for yourself to try and guess!
The Masterclass can be bought as a standalone and you need not attend the Epicurean market especially for it. But if you are going to be there anyway, we're located at WG18 and will be armed with a Bubbly Bar and All American Wine Tasting!
